Author Guidelines

Thank you for considering submission to the Al-Hayat Journal of Biological Sciences (AJBS). To ensure a smooth and successful submission process, authors are kindly asked to follow the guidelines below carefully.

???? 1. Manuscript Preparation

  • Language: All submissions must be written in clear, concise English.

  • Length: Manuscripts should not exceed 7,000 words (excluding references, tables, and figures).

  • Format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.docx) format, double-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman font.

  • Structure:

    • Title

    • Abstract (150–250 words)

    • Keywords (3–6)

    • Introduction

    • Materials and Methods

    • Results

    • Discussion

    • Conclusion

    • Acknowledgments (if applicable)

    • References

???? 2. Abstract and Keywords

  • The abstract must summarize the purpose, methods, main findings, and conclusions.

  • Include 3–6 keywords that reflect the core content of the article.

????️ 3. Tables and Figures

  • Embed tables and figures within the manuscript or place them at the end.

  • Each figure and table must be numbered and captioned.

  • Provide high-resolution images (minimum 300 dpi for figures).

???? 4. Citation Style

All references must follow the Vancouver citation style. Below are examples:

  • Journal Article:
    Smith J, Doe A. Effects of light on plant growth. Plant Sci Today. 2020;25(3):215–22.

  • Book:
    Brown H. Cell Biology: A Short Course. 3rd ed. Oxford: Oxford University Press; 2019.

  • Online Source:

???? 5. Ethical Considerations

  • Manuscripts involving human or animal subjects must include a statement of ethical approval from a relevant committee.

  • Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest.

???? 6. Submission Process

  • Authors must register and log in to the journal website to submit a manuscript.

  • Submissions undergo double-blind peer review.

  • Only unpublished, original work not under review elsewhere will be considered.

???? 7. Supplementary Files (if any)

  • Submit supporting datasets, ethical clearance, or graphical abstracts as separate files if needed.

Please confirm that your submission meets the following requirements by checking each box:

  • The submission is original and has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal.

  • The manuscript is prepared according to the Author Guidelines, including formatting, citation style (Vancouver), and file type (.doc or .docx).

  • All authors have been listed with correct affiliations and have approved the final version of the manuscript.

  • Where applicable, ethical approval documents for studies involving humans or animals have been provided.

  • The submission includes an abstract, keywords, tables/figures (if any), and a properly formatted reference list.

  • Any potential conflicts of interest have been disclosed in the manuscript.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the journal's Author Guidelines.

  • Supplementary files (e.g., datasets, images, ethical approval) are uploaded as separate files where necessary.

Authors who submit to Al-Hayat Journal of Biological Sciences (AJBS) agree to the following terms:

  1. Copyright Retention
    Authors retain copyright over their work and grant the journal the right of first publication.

  2. License for Publication
    Submitted articles will be published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which allows others to:

    • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format

    • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
      for any purpose, even commercially,
      provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source.

  3. No Restrictions on Reuse by Authors
    Authors are free to:

    • Archive their work in institutional repositories

    • Share their article on personal or academic websites

    • Use the content for teaching or presentations

  4. Acknowledgment of Publication
    When reusing the article, authors must acknowledge that it was originally published in AJBS, including the citation and link to the journal.

  5. Ethical Responsibility
    Authors affirm that their submission is original, does not infringe upon any copyright, and is not under consideration elsewhere.
